This was the third summer I have spent some time in Northern Arkansas on the White River – guiding and fishing – love this place! My focus has always been night time in the summer months and mousing for Big Browns. Love this but have noticed something very cool on this river in July – tiny sulphurs with major evening hatches. Great numbers of Browns 18-24” making little dimple rising in the evening hour! Technically dry fly fishing with #18 dries and 6x tippets. This evening hatch doesn’t even get in the way of our night time fishing!

Mustard color tiny sulphur patterns were what worked the best. These browns do group up in nice pods and so fun searching for those rain drop rises! I am setting up trips for all of July 2027 with lodging & meals at the White River Trout Lodge. We sure will have guides ready to go! Time frame for sulphur hatch on the White River is mid June thru early August.
