The lower river is starting to heat up with our spring steelhead run! Currently the lower river is extremely high from recent melting and rains. Flow gates are open now at Foote Dam and some rain coming thru today. Foote pond still full of ice but it’s turning black and won’t be long. The past week fishing has been good with mostly bright silver steelhead in the slow winter holes. Here is beautiful steelhead that was been the river for a bit from yesterday.

On the Au Sable typically flood gates this time of year are short lived and just what is needed. I have been on the river 2 out of the last 3 days and fishing has been pretty good. The Au Sable does get one of latest runs of steelhead in Michigan and we just getting started! Looking forward to the next 6 weeks.
