Flood has come and gone on the Au Sable River! In the lower river it’s in great shape for steelhead fishing. Flow levels are ideal right now and more rain coming which should keep bring steelhead from Lake Huron. Water clarity is very poor compared to normal but the bite has been very good. Just don’t plan on see these steelhead now!
Love the size increase this year on these Lake Huron fishing! Look to the fastest deep gravel right now for best biters. Spawning has peaked now and plenty of drop back fish in River. These are hungry and will crush minnow patterns. Look for fresh fish to keep coming like always on the Au Sable – latest run in the lower peninsula! I got some split days of next week with morning steelhead trips and afternoon dry fly fishing on Hendrickson hatch.
Hennies are starting throughout system but dry fishing has not going strong! LOL! But it rarely does in April. Those looking for BIG Browns it’s streamer time now.
