The winter has been going well here in Northern Arkansas on the White River. Been a fair amount of low water with very low power generation from Bull Shoals Dam. Winter time low water means nighttime mousing and streamer fishing to me! This past week they brought river down to minimum flow for 2 days and nights to conserve water for power generation during upcoming cold snap. Made for two nights of perfect late night time fishing. After two nights with awesome trout then came this one – one of those special Brown Trout giants of the White River! My boat tapes go to 32” and this one hung way over – 34” and 25lbs.
Been fishing more larger mouse patterns and working them at very slow speed and it worked on this one. These were some new patterns that Steve Ywechuck tied for me last winter and finally getting a chance to fish them – they work!
For those looking for night time guided trip I do offer them in the winter months here on the White River in January, February and March. There are a few dates open this winter and booking for next winter. Will be here on the White River for a 2-3 week period this July and will on the river every night! Do have dates open.
