Had an excellent run of Kings this year on the Betsie River! It all started out very warm and dry in August but then just passed mid month came some cold nights and some NW winds. I started out harbor fishing in Betsie Lake and then moved into river as bright chrome Kings started coming! Cold nights are ideal but then just after Labor Day came some awesome weather for moving Kings in – Felt like late Fall with high winds, cold and wet. Overall we sure could have used some more rain for the King run time frame as it was low water the entire run. Next year will be the same for myself and will start doing river or harbor trips Aug 15th thru Oct 1st. After that it’s all the all Atlantic Salmon and Coho on the Au Sable! For those interested in booked trip for 2026 the time to do that is now.
