Been a nice increase of adult steelhead in the lower Au Sable River the last few weeks. Bright chrome and 8-10lbs fresh in from Lake Huron!  Snow came to the area to start the New Years. Not that much in Oscoda area but close to a foot upstream. Should provide some good run off as forecast shows temps to be in 40’s this weekend.  Here is a wonderful photo from Jan 2nd of Melissa with an awesome steelhead!  Had to want it bad, as the day was true winter steelheading – wind, snow and cold.

Eric on December 31st to end the year with this perfect winter steelhead!  Some good action today.  Fishing all the classic slow winter water is the key this time of year.

Still a few Atlantic Salmon in the lower river also! They are slowly working there way back to Lake Huron but they sure are looking for a meal now.  Streamers are most productive and of late its been naturals that look like a sculpin or goby.  Look for some to hold over all winter!  Andy got this one before Christmas and it ate olive woolly bugger.
