These are the two perfect salmon for river fishing – they both love to eat a streamer! Numbers of both have been real good in the lower Au Sable the past week. Leaves finally falling now and moving into our prime time Fall fishing. Cold nights of late and feeling good! We sure could use some water around here but the low water continues. A few steelhead have moved in from Lake Huron but going to need some rain for these to start fishing well.
Floating line and long leaders with small streamers have produced best for us. Mud Puppet, Sparkle Minnow, Jig Goby, Great Lakes Goby, Dungeons, Muddlers, Peanuts and Intruders have all produced. For the two handed fly rod anglers now is the time to swing a fly. Strippin is very productive also!
