We have been enjoying some cooler weather over the last couple weeks. This is making for some healthy trout streams and happy fish!

I floated the upper Manistee last week with great success. There are lots of happy fish eating hoppers; along with some BWO popping off. The same holds true for fishing the upper Au Sable – good amounts of Brooke Trout looking up. Parachute Adams and old school hariwings along with a terrestrials were our best success for blind casting. With cooler weather coming later in the week, the terrestrial bite should continue. It’s a pleasure to get out and enjoy both upper sections of the Au Sable and Manistee and take advantage of some great afternoon fishing right now.

Thanks Cameron for a fantastic day on the Manistee River. Besides being a beautiful and scenic float, I appreciate all fish on dry flies you put me on the entire full day float. Kudos to you on your knowledge of the river and pointing out the many holding spots that produced fish plus the sizeable brown trout we saw cruising the middle of the river but weren’t interested in the bright sun.

Appreciate your shore lunch and the entertainment we had of that osprey that just captured a trout and as we approached fled with it, wings extended!

It was fun spending the day together and getting to know you.

I’ll surely be back again my friend!
