The last week seasons have finally started to change here in NE Michigan and finally a little snow! Fall has been a bit on the warmer side than normal and even now no bitter winter temps or storms. That is good thing for the upcoming December fishing. This can be an excellent time to fish the Au Sable but do need to keep a watch on the weather. Currently still decent numbers of Atlantic Salmon and Coho in the river but not nearly the numbers we had a few weeks ago. A few fresh Atlantics continue to trickle in and many of post spawners do stay in river for a while. These fish are looking for food and Atlantics love minnows and sculpins. Coming into a great time to fish for Steelhead on the lower river. Water temps are still around 40 degrees and these guys are very active to a swung or stripped streamer. On days when the streamers dont work its time to get egg patterns down deep.
For those looking for guided float trip I’m all in! This time of year its the lower river for Steelhead/Atlantics, Lake Huron Shoreline for Lake Trout or streamer fishing the trout water of Au Sable for Browns. Just email or call: [email protected] 989-889-5374
Late in the Fall and early Winter always some of these toothy guys around the lower river – great fun on streamer rods!
