Our plans for the upcoming Salmon season are finally all set. We are booking guided float trips for both NW and NE Michigan from late August thru December. Kings come first and we start doing guided float trips in NW MI on the Betsie River in mid to late August. I will be staying again on Platte Lake in late August thru the end of the first week in October. The last couple year we haven’t not gotten early August Kings in the river but with the cooler summer so far hopefully those will return this year.
All is September is prime time and I do still have guides with dates open for both fly fishing trip and spin fishing.
Mid October we are back home in NE MI on the lower Au Sable River and its all about chasing these Atlantic Salmon! Turning into my favorite time of the year and just love these Atlantics. So cool to sight fish these fish in the gin clear waters of the lower river and watch these Atlantics swim down a streamer! Mid Oct to end of Dec is the time frame.
The new addition the last couple years to the lower Au Sable is the Coho Salmon. These are aggressive like the Atlantics and often hit the same streamers. Late October thru December is time peak time frame. Very cool seeing the population of these continuing to grow in Lake Huron!
