Most consider the lower Au Sable as one of the latest spring Steelhead runs in the lower peninsula of Michigan. This year after spring came so incredibly early most thought it would be over by May. That was not the case! Just like always there were some nice silver fish into the middle of May. Not big numbers but some quality fish! Sean with some beautiful May Steelhead and we had the river to ourselves.
As I’m posting this now with the current heat wave here in Northern Michigan Steelhead fishing is over for us till October. Can’t wait for the Atlantic Salmon/Steelhead this fall!!
