The last couple weeks many of the Lake Michigan tributaries have had some very good runs King Salmon showing up! Here on the Betsie and Manistee the run is going strong now. Weather and conditions have been pretty much ideal for early Kings. Cool nights and no high summer heat of late – many days feeling like fall. Last weeks rain kicked our run into high gear. Kings have been running huge this year so far! Below Bobby got our largest so far at 31 pounds.
These early fish are great biters and very aggressive. Crankbaits and chucks of skein are the two most productive methods for good biters. Forecast is for some thunderstorms tomorrow morning and then some good cold nights coming. Ideal for another big push coming in from Lake Michigan. Next good north winds look for the Platte River to get its first big push of Coho!
