Every Hex Hatch season is a bit different! This year’s bugs got going early after the first week in June in the lower river with just enough heat. Some excellent night and then there were some very cold nights making it pretty short lived. Hex continued to go in July and we had a number of heart breaks late in hatch but that’s the hex. Even now a trickle on some colder creeks and rivers. Dark Hex starting on lower Au Sable now and this is mostly a Smallmouth hatch. Hoppers are starting to produce and night time mousing!
