This popular hatch typically is peaking in many places in Northern Michigan and the Au Sable River right now. Well not this year as everything came 2-3 early. Are there still hex hatching/spinners and the answer is yes. Trickle of these big bugs can still get big trout up and rising. There are also several smaller hex species and have been seeing them in the past week. With heat coming back this week look for these bugs to continue – just not in huge numbers. As this hatch slows down we start mousing from my boat!
