This years hex hatch on the Au Sable River didn’t start like normal! Typically we going by June 10th but this years high water and cold temps pushed thing back a bit till later in June. Did make for some excellent evening dry fly fishing in mid June on the Brown Drake hatch!
Third week of June finally had some good Hex hatching and spinner falls. Typically most years this hatch is winding down on the Au Sable but not so this year! So many gave up on this hatch and we had some wonderful night fishing the first half of July. No crowds and no big blow out spinner falls made for some excellent night time dry fly fishing.
