The first couple weeks of my Winter here in Arkansas has sure been some good streamer fishing! At least part of the time! LOL! Thats typically the way trout fishing goes. Two big cold fronts have already come thru this region and even one big snow storm. Snow didnt last long and latest cold snap is on the way out. Winter cold fronts are good for streamer fishing on the White River – cold weather and on come the power generators leading to high water. Its a bit uncomfortable on the hands but strippin streamers has been really good when the water flows have been up this January. I have been keeping heater in the boat to be able to warm those hands by up! Currently this is last very cold day for a while and back to more what I call spring like weather weather. Here is the upcoming forecast:

When they turn on the all of the generators at Bull Shoals Dam here is what we have been doing – strippin streamers. Water flows at 15-20,000 cfs or 285 mega watts its time to break out the good fast action 8 or 9wt along with a matching streamer fly line. My favorites are made by Airflo and the Streamer MAX Shovelheads are ideal. Our most productive streamers have been: Sluggo, Viking Midge, Great Lakes Deceivers, D&D, Slop Mop and Chromatic Peanut.
