Its been all Trout for me of late but Smallmouth time is coming here very soon as summer temps are heating up. The night time trout bite is good all summer long but for day time fishing its all Smallmouth Bass for me. These Smallies love the heat and July/August is ideal for the them! I do have dates open for those looking for a guided float trip.
Here is an awesome Au Sable River Smallie that we hit a couple days ago and very cool when they rise to take a stonefly!
My mid summer Smallmouth fishing is typically small bait fish streamers during the day along with topwater action. Popper fishing is pretty hard to beat for these guys and they will also eat dry flies!
