The cool wet spring continues here in North East Michigan. For the lower Au Sable this has been a good thing! Water temps have stayed in the lower 50’s and water levels remain up. New Atlantic Salmon continue to trickle in from Lake Huron along with a decent number of Steelhead. Typically Atlantics are just hanging around pier heads this time of year but not this spring. Here is Sean with some bright one from May 21st.

These Atlantics are looking to feed this time of year and minnows are what they are looking for. Stripping and swing minnow pattern has produced some good action. Productive streamers has been Sparkle Minnow, Murdich Minnow and Intruders. Look for Atlantics to be holding near structure but not in the deepest water. Along shallow drop offs, logs and slow inside corners. No telling how long they could stick around if water temps stay in 50’s!
